JEE Main 2020 will be conducted by the newly formulated body – National Testing Agency (NTA). JEE Main Application Forms 2020 have been available from 03 September 2019. The last date to apply for the online form would be 30 September 2019 (up to 11:50 PM). Admit cards can be downloaded by the candidates starting from 06 December 2019 and exam will be conducted from 06 January 2019 to 11 January 2019. Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is a national level engineering entrance examination. JEE (Mains) was previously referred to as IIT-JEE. From 2019 onwards, the exam is getting conducted twice a year – in January and April. It is conducted to offer B.Tech admissions and admissions into B.E, B.Plan, B.Arch programmes. Up to 2018, this exam was getting organised by CBSE. Based on the ranks or score secured in the examination, candidates can get admission into renowned institutions/colleges in India. Aspirants can become eligible for – 31 NIT’s, 25 IIIT’s, 28 CFTI’s, etc by securing the minimum qualifying cut-off marks in the screening test. Important Updates in JEE Main 2020

  • If any image discrepancy in the JEE Main Application Form has been notified to the candidate, they can visit the official website for correcting the same. Candidates need to login by using their application number and password.
  • NTA has released the sample question paper for B.Planning. Click Here.
  • Papers for B.Tech/B.E., B.Arch and B.Planning will be conducted separately.
  • The number of questions in each paper has been changed and correspondingly the total marks of each paper as per the approval authority JEE Apex Board (JAB).
  • For the candidates giving the exam for B.Planning: Mathematics – Part 1, Aptitude Test – Part 2 and Planning Based Questions – Part 3 will come in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.
  • Application Fee payment now can be done through UPI and Paytm as well.

JEE Main 2020 New Changes Introduced

The following are the new changes introduced in the JEE Main 2020 exam by the NTA:

  1. National Testing Agency (NTA) now holds the responsibility for conducting the Joint Entrance Examination since 2019 onwards.
  2. The NTA JEE Main exam will be conducted twice in a year. Once in January and the other one is scheduled in April, both through the online CBT – (Computer Based Test) mode.
  3. There is no age limit now to apply for this exam. The candidates who will fulfil the eligibility criteria from now onwards can appear for this exam.
  4. The candidates to appear for the online mode exam will need to book their exam slots.
  5. There is no need for Aadhar card now while applying for the entrance exam of JEE Main.
  6. Those candidates would be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced who would be amongst the top 224000 qualified candidates.
  7. The NTA to help the candidates with their preparation has set up more than 3400 Practice centres.
  8. The candidates who have diabetes are allowed to take the following things inside the exam hall: sugar tablets, water bottles and fruits.

JEE Main 2020 Application Form

The candidates can check the important points provided below to know the details about the JEE Main 2020 online Application Form and Fee:

  1. The process of JEE Main 2020 Registration for the session of January month will start from 03 September 2019 onwards. Similarly, the registration for April session will take place from 7 February 2020 onwards.
  2. The entire process of online registration will contain the following steps –
    1. Registering online
    2. Online filling of application
    3. Uploading the images
    4. Application Fees payment
    5. Taking Print out of the application.
  3. The JEE Main 2020 application form last date is 30 September 2019 (up to 11:50 pm). For the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) April session, the deadline for submitting the application form is 07 March 2020.
  4. The application form correction window will remain open from 11 October 2019 to 17 October 2019 for the January session exam. For the April session, the correction process will start in March 2020.
  5. The candidates need to submit one application form only. If a candidate submits more than one application form it would then be rejected.

JEE Main 2020 Admit Card

The registration process will be followed by the release of JEE Main Admit Card. The availability of the Hall ticket/admit card for both January and April sessions is given below:

  • The admit cards for January session would be available from 06 December 2019 onwards.
  • For April session admit card would be available from 16 March 2020 onwards.
  • The candidates can click on the online link and by entering their password and registration number they can download their admit card.
  • The candidates will be informed when the admit card would be released through the mail or SMS.

JEE Main 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must carefully go through the JEE eligibility criteria before they start filling the application form. Below is the detailed and updated JEE Main eligibility criteria, given for the candidates to dwell into:

General Eligibility:

  • Qualifying Exam: The candidates who are applying must have cleared the Class 12th exam or any equivalent exam from any recognised board or university.
  • Diploma Holders: The candidates who have done diploma can also apply for this exam but in IIITs only.
  • Age criteria: There is no age limit now to apply for JEE Main.
  • Number of Attempts: There is no limit on the number of attempts to apply for this exam.
  • Appearing Candidates: The candidates who are appearing for 10+2 exam this year are also eligible to apply.
  • Year of Appearance: Those candidates can only apply who have passed their Class 12th board exam in 2018 or 2019. The candidates appearing for 10+2 exam in the year 2020 can also apply.

Institutions wise Eligibility:

  • The candidates need to score at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST), or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class / Qualifying examination conducted by the respective Boards to get admissions into IIITs, NITs, CFTIs and other institutions through CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board)/JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority).
  • The admission will be provided to the candidates based on All India Rank which they have scored in the exam.
  • Subject combinations required in the qualifying examination for admission to B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Planning Courses in NITs, IIITs, and other CFTIs shall be as under:

JEE Main 2020 Preparation Tips

The preparation tips for JEE Main which would help the candidates to score well and hence qualify this exam are given below:

  • The candidates must have complete knowledge regarding the pattern of exam, syllabus and the marking scheme.
  • The candidates must make short notes which must comprise of the following: key points, formulas and concepts.
  • The candidates must study from study material which the qualified candidates and experienced teachers have recommended for JEE Main 2020 exam.
  • The candidates need to practice from sample papers and exam papers of the previous year to get knowledge about the trend of the exam and the type of questions which can be asked in the exam.

JEE Main 2020 Answer Key

The NTA will release the answer key of JEE Main 2020 exam after the entrance exam will get over i.e. around January 2020. Following are the main points regarding the release of answer key:

  • The answer key will be published through online mode in PDF Format for both the papers. The candidates can check the answer key once it is available on the official website.
  • The candidates can access the answer key by entering their password and the application number.
  • The candidates can cross-check their answers by downloading the answer key and tallying the response with the answers given in the answer key, hence calculating their probable score.
  • The candidates can challenge the Answer key openly if they have any problem with the answers given in the Answer key. For this, they need to submit proof and pay a certain amount as fees.

JEE Main 2020 Result

The  NTA JEE Main 2020 January Result would be announced by 31 January 2020 as per the latest NTA update. Similarly, for the April session, the result would be announced on 30 April 2020. The candidates will have to enter their roll numbers and birth date to check their results. The scorecard will be released online after the announcement of results.

NTA JEE 2020 Tie Breaker Rule

In case the candidate’s score after the declaration of Joint Entrance Exam result is found equal with the other candidate then the tie would be resolved in the following descending order:

  • Score in Mathematics.
  • Score in Physics / Score in Aptitude Test (in case of B.Arch) / Score in Aptitude Test (in case of B.Planning).
  • Score in Chemistry / Score in Drawing Test (in case of B.Arch) / Score in Planning Based Questions (in case of B.Planning).
  • Candidates having a lesser number of negative responses in the paper.
  • Candidates older in Age.

JEE Main 2020 Scorecard

The scorecard of JEE Main 2020 is very important as it will contain the following details about the candidates:

The scorecards can be downloaded through online mode only and no dispatching of the scorecards will take place through the online mode.

JEE Main 2020 Cut Off

The JEE Main 2020 cut off will be released by NTA by online mode. The candidates need to score the cut off marks to appear in the All India centralized counselling process. The cut-off marks for various categories will be released.

  • Through JEE Main cut off candidates will get admission into NITs, IIITs and CFTIs and can also qualify for the JEE Advanced 2020 Exam.
  • Out of the total number of candidates appeared for Joint Entrance Exam Main every year, only 18.18% – 22.72% of candidates are selected for JEE Advanced Examination.

JEE Main 2020 Counselling

The candidates who will get minimum cut-off marks would be eligible to participate in the online JEE Main counselling process. Following are the points candidates must go through regarding counseling information:

  • The JEE Main 2020 counselling process will take place through online mode only. The first step is that the students need to get themselves registered.
  • JoSAA i.e.the Joint Seat Allocation Authority will organize the counselling process.
  • The candidates would be allotted seats into the institutions such as IIT’s, NIT’s, CFTI’s etc.
  • The seats would be allocated based on the category of the applicant, rank secured availability of seats and other factors.
  • The candidates will have to report to the institutions allotted to them after the seat allocation for the process of verification of documents.

Will NTA conduct JEE Main 2020?

As of now, there are no changes in JEE 2020, whether it’s exam pattern, eligibility criteria or syllabus. JEE Main 2020 will be conducted by National Testing Agency in computer-based mode, twice a year, in January and April. JEE Advanced 2020 will also be conducted in online (CBT) mode only.

How can I apply for JEE 2020?

EE Main 2020 Application Form – National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the JEE Main Application Form 2020 in the 1st week of September 2019 at jeemain.nic.in.

Does 12th class marks are important for JEE?

Yes, 12th marks are important to appear for JEE and candidates belong to General category must have 75% marks in their 12th board exam and 65% marks in case of SC/ST category.

What is the difference between JEE Main and JEE Advanced?

JEE Main is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). JEE advanced is conducted by IITs for admission into IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and its marks are also accepted for admission into IISc and IISERs.

What is the difference between AIEEE and JEE?

JEE Main is actually same as AIEEE and JEE Advanced is same as IIT JEE. AIEEE is organized to provide admission into the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and JEE is held to provide admissions into the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).
