Other colleges, such as Deshbandhu College and Bharati College Aditi Mahavidyalaya, will provide undergraduate degree programmes with a total of 40 seats. With a class of 12 students, Vivekananda College will begin providing MA English. With 40 and 16 seats, respectively, PGDAV College (Evening) will begin offering BA English and MA Hindi.

NEP Implementation

The EC will also address the implementation of the NEP 2020, which was approved by the Academic Council earlier this week despite strong opposition from teachers’ organizations. Students will be required to take two languages and literature courses as part of the new degree, one of which must be an Indian language. Other essential subjects have been added, such as social and emotional learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The new framework includes courses such as IT Skills, Data Analysis, Mathematics, Science, and Society. Students in the new structure will also be required to participate in extracurricular activities such as music, painting, gardening, sports, and so on. A three-year undergraduate degree will require 148 credits, a two-year diploma will require 100 credits, and a one-year certificate will require 48 credits. Students will need 196 credits to complete a four-year degree. In their final year, students who choose the four-year honors with research option must complete a thesis or an internship.

The DU undergraduate curriculum will be expanded to a four-year programme with a variety of entry and departure points. The three-year degree programme, on the other hand, will be incorporated into a four-year honours degree with a one-year research component.

Meanwhile, the MPhil programme will be phased out beginning in the next academic year. According to the university’s NEP implementation committee report, several new courses will be added to current programmes by next year. The new framework includes two language and literature classes, as well as courses on social and emotional learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship. However, numerous teachers have expressed reservations about the guidelines’ execution.
