Delhi University (DU) is a public central collegiate university which offers admission in multiple specializations under various undergraduate (UG) courses (B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, B.Tech) and postgraduate (PG) courses (MA, M.Com, M.Sc, M.Tech) on the basis of qualifying degree merit/ Entrance Examination marks. Known for its high standards in teaching and research, Delhi University is one of the largest universities in India with 77 affiliated colleges spread all over Delhi.

For different academic programmes offered by the university, the exam pattern will be different. The test conducted for PG courses will be an OMR based examination. Candidates must also note that in case of merit-based UG courses, there will be no entrance exam. The entrance exam will be held for several UG courses (entrance based) and PG courses only. For PGDCSL, admissions will be done on the basis of combined merit of qualifying examination and personal interview.

Delhi University also offers correspondence courses at undergraduate as well as postgraduate level. School of Open Learning (SOL), DU has been established in order to serve the purpose of distance education.

Note: Apart from the general cutoff list for students of boards recognized by DU, students from schools that are not accredited with AIU, UGC or MHRD will be considered for admission in University of Delhi on the basis of separate merit list. University has a unique grade point conversion system to serve this purpose.

Delhi University Merit-Based UG Admission 2019

Admission to UG merit-based courses such as BA, B.Sc and B.Com commence in the month of May every year. Candidates are shortlisted for admission on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying 10+2 examination. Interested students can apply through online mode to secure admission in non-entrance based courses offered in different affiliated colleges of University of Delhi.

To apply for UG courses, candidates should register online by logging on to admissions portal available at the official DU website. Upon successful registration, students can choose the desired course and submit the required fees. Upon screening of the application, merit cum cutoff list will be released by the university and shortlisted students can report to the respective college with the marks sheet & other necessary enclosures.

Delhi University Entrance-based UG Admission 2019

Apart from merit-based courses, the university also offers several undergraduate (UG) programmes on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance examination, conducted by DU. Candidates seeking admission to such UG courses can apply through the common Web Portal for centralized registration and submit the required fees through available online payment modes.

Application process for entrance-based UG courses usually commences in the second week of May and forms are accepted until the first week of June. Candidates can download their respective Admit Card for the entrance examination from the UG admission portal and take its print-out for future use

  • In case of BMS, BBA-FIA and BA (Economics) admission, the weightage of Joint Admission Test (JAT) and GD/PI is 85% and 15% respectively.
  • For B. Tech. (IT&M) and BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences admissions, a 2 hour MCQ based entrance test is conducted by the university. The marking pattern will be as specified by the university.
  • Admission of candidates to B.Sc. (P.E., H.E. & S) is done on the basis of marks scored in the written examination and other tests (Fitness Test, Playing Ability Test), conducted by Delhi University.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for admission to B.El.Ed. and BA (Hons) MMMC programme on the basis of their performance in the university entrance test

Delhi University PG Admission 2019

The university also offers postgraduate courses in the stream of Arts, Commerce, Science etc. and other Faculties/Departments. The application process for PG admissions usually commence in May every year and admission to the courses are done on the basis of marks secured in the entrance test, conducted by Delhi University.

In addition to various PG courses, Delhi university also offers a one-year Postgraduate Diploma course in Cyber Security and Law (PGDCSL) under the ‘Institute of Cyber Security and Law’. Admission to the 100 seats for the Cyber Security Program shall be based on the merit drawn from the marks obtained in graduation and personal interview. Following are some key points regarding PGDCSL program:

  • Candidates appearing in the final year examination of Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply.
  • The application fee is INR 2000 (Unreserved and OBC candidates) and INR 1500 (SC/ST/PwD/CW candidates)
  • The course will comprise of two semesters, each containing five subjects and an end of semester project.
  • The classes will be held from Monday to Friday as per the scheduled timetable from 9 am to 5 pm.
  • Selection of candidates for the PGDCSL will be based on the combined merit of qualifying exam and personal interview.
  • 85% weightage will be given to the qualifying degree merit and 15% weightage will be given to the interview

Admission to the PG programmes is done:

  • Through Merit or Direct: 50% of the total intake shall be filled by direct admission of the students of the Delhi University only, on the basis of merit.
  • Through Entrance: Remaining 50% of the seats shall be filled through entrance examination and Interview/Group Discussion.

Note: Application & Admission process of St. Stephen’s college & Jesus & Mary college is different from the rest of DU affiliated colleges. Students seeking admission to the courses offered by the aforementioned institutes should contact the respective college for admission related queries.

Delhi University M.Phil/Ph.D Admission 2019

In addition to various UG and PG courses, the university also offers M.Phil and Ph.D course in various specializations. For admission to Ph.D, candidates must have obtained Masters degree with minimum 55% marks. In case of M.Phil, the candidates should have passed Masters/ M.Phil degree in the relevant discipline with at least 55% marks. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy layer) and Persons with Physical Disability (PwD) are provided 5% relaxation in the minimum reuired eligibility for admission to M.Phil/ Ph.D courses. Online registration is mandatory for all the candidates applying for the M.Phil./Ph.D. courses.

Before applying for admission to M.Phil/ Ph.D, candidates must check whether their is a requirement of Research Proposal for admission to their specialization/ department.

Candidates will be shortlisted for the M.Phil/ Ph.D course on the basis of their performance in the entrance test and Personal interview round. The duration of written examination shall be 120 minutes. The question paper will consist of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ), except for some of the foreign language courses including Persian which may have short-answer questions.

The qualifying marks for the Entrance Test is 50% aggregate. The list of shortlisted candidates and dates of the interview shall be notified on the M.Phil./Ph.D. admission portal. Delhi University MD/MS/MDS Admission 2019

DU has released notification regarding admission to MD/MS/MDS programmes offered by the Faculty of Medical Sciences.

Admission to the 50% Delhi University Quota seats for the session will be done through NEET-PG / NEET-MDS entrance test. Candidates seeking admission must submit the application forms through www.fmsc.ac.in and www.du.ac.in along with the required fees of Rs.1500/- (Rs.1000/- for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidate should have passed final MBBS examination (for MD/MS/Diploma Course) and BDS examination (for MDS Course) from Delhi University and must have completed satisfactorily one year compulsory rotating internship as on March 31. Students must also submit their internship completion certificate before or at the time of appearing for the counselling

Selection Process:

Final selection of the candidates will be done from the medical graduates and dental surgery graduates of University of Delhi on the basis of their ranks in NEETPG/ NEET-MDS. Merit list of eligible candidates shall be notified on the official website.

In order to be eligible for counseling, a candidate must obtain a minimum of 50 % marks in NEET-PG/NEET-MDS. In case of candidates belonging to Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe & Other Backward Classes and Candidates with Disability belonging to SC/ST/OBC category, the minimum required aggregate shall be 40% marks in NEET-PG/NEET-MDS

Counseling and admission to the MD/MS/MDS course will be done strictly on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the NEET-PG/ NEET-MDS examination.

Note: Candidates in order of merit will be required to appear before Post-Graduate Admission Committee constituted by the Board of Research Studies of the Faculty of Medical Sciences for counselling and admission on the specified dates

Delhi University Registration Process 2019

Candidates seeking admission to Delhi University courses can apply online through the official registration portal by following the below-mentioned steps:

  • As a first time user, the candidate shall navigate to the “New Applicant Sign Up” to create the user account by clicking on the “New Registration” link.
  • Under the “Create New Account” page, the candidate should fill in all the required details.
  • Candidate should verify his/her email-id and Password as henceforth, it will be used for the admission purposes.
  • Finally, the candidate should click the “Register” button to create a new user account.
  • A confirmation will be sent to the registered email account/mobile number upon creation of the registration account.
  • Once registered, the applicant should log on to the UG/PG/Ph.D admission portal to complete the online registration form.
  • Under the “Registered Applicant Sign In” tab, the candidate shall enter “registered email-id” as username and the “password”.
  • Upon logging in, the candidate must complete the registration form divided among the following nine sections:
  1. Personal Details, Bank Details
  2. Academic Details
  3. Merit-Based Course Selection
  4. Entrance Based Course Selection
  5. Sports – In this section, the applicant can select “Yes” for consideration of admission through Sports Quota.

  7. Uploads – Passport size photograph, Signature, Class X certificate/marksheet, Self-attested Class XII marksheet, Slef-attested certificates
  8. Preview – In this section, the applicant can preview the completed application.

Note: There is no extra registration fee for applying to multiple courses. Also, the applicant can update information in the application form by revisiting applicant’s account till the last date of registration but before the payment of the online registration fee.
